Description
Life Skills Stations are specialized areas designed for individuals with dementia, particularly in memory care settings. Our Laundry Therapy Life Skills Station includes a faux washer, a dryer rack, face towels, hand towels, and cloths pins to hang the laundry. Faux laundry detergent and faux bleach. Three wall decals include the Ironing Board and the Window with a View.
These stations recreate familiar environments or activities from a person’s past, such as a laundry room, garden, or workshop, to stimulate memories, encourage engagement, and provide a sense of purpose.

Life skills stations offer multiple therapeutic benefits for dementia patients across different stages:
- Cognitive Stimulation: Engaging in familiar tasks, like sorting office supplies or folding laundry, stimulates memory recall and helps maintain mental acuity.
- Emotional Well-Being: Familiar settings reduce anxiety and agitation by evoking positive memories, fostering a sense of comfort and normalcy.
- Social Interaction: Stations encourage interaction with staff, family, or other residents, reducing feelings of isolation and promoting community.
- Physical Activity: Tasks like gardening or organizing involve movement, supporting physical health and motor skills.
- Behavioural Management: Meaningful engagement can reduce challenging behaviours like wandering, aggression, or repetitive actions.
