How The Door System works:
When a monitored door is opened the transmitter sends a signal to the receiver/alarm that plugs into any standard AC wall outlet in your bedroom, kitchen, den, etc. You can use one set to guard one door or buy extra transmitters to monitor more doors. The Plug-in Remote will sound with a chime when any monitored door is opened. The chime has two different tune options: Ding (one note tune) or Ding-Dong (two note tune) or Westminster (eight note tune).
Caregivers tell us that they also like using The Door Monitor on kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors. If a loved one goes into a cabinet (perhaps at night when the caregiver is asleep) the chime sounds instantly and unmistakably alerts the caregiver.
Caregiver Tip: On an exit door, use the door alarm in conjunction with a chain lock (purchased at your hardware store or local home improvement center). This type of lock allows the door to open just far enough to set off the alarm, but not enough to let the person exit. Please understand this is not a constant alarm.
